House Leauge (Starting May 15)
The House League is the most popular event in the Club, with organized doubles matches throughout the summer. We will create 8 equally matched teams of up to 12 players (8 people per team play on a rotating basis). Each team plays once per week, Tuesday or Thursday evening (7:00pm-8:30pm or 8:30pm-10:00pm). So that everyone has a fun game, your team captain will try to make sure that players of a similar level play each other.

Each team has a captain who is responsible for organizing his/her team every week. Each captain is given a list of house league members and substitutes, copies of the summer schedule, and score sheets. Being a captain has its rewards - you get to know a lot of other members. Let us know if you wish to be a captain.

Mandatory Evaluation
In order to ensure a good balance of skills and abilities across the 8 competing teams, each new House League applicant will be required to be rated by the Club Pro. You don't need to be rated again if you played in House League in 2010 or 2011. Members will be rated during the pre-season rating sessions.
We do request that members are at a level 3.0 or above to join house league - this means you can serve, maintain a rally on both forehand and backhand with a moderate pace, and hit easy volleys. Please consult the Tennis Canada Rating Guide for the details.

Junior Program (Spring Session starts May 5)
Our second most popular program is the Junior Training program run by the Club's Tennis Pro. For $30, tennis coaching is provided for junior members on Saturday afternoons for 8 weeks. The juniors are broken up into smaller groups by age and/or ability. Volunteer members usually assist the Club Pro during these training sessions.
NEW MWTC is pleased to announce the arrival of Progressive Tennis for juniors.

12:00PM - 5-8 years
1:00PM - 9-12 years
2:00PM - 13+ years
Summer session times may be moved a little earlier due to the heat.
Beginner Ladies Program (Starting May 18)
This free Friday night ladies-only training session is aimed at our beginner ladies (rated up to 2.5 - see the Tennis Canada Rating Guide). Started in 2005, this hugely successful program has helped increase female membership at the club from 17% to over 40%.

We already have a number of ladies who have graduated to playing in the house league or at the Sunday Round Robin, some after only one season in this program. The time is 7-9pm on Fridays.
Bring your racquet and be prepared for a fun workout while learning how to play tennis!
Sunday Round Robin
A Round Robin is organized for most Sundays between 2pm and 5pm. Come on out and meet other members. Arthur Searles is our Round Robin organizer this year.
Junior Round Robin
The Junior Round Robin is an organized event for our more experienced young players (under 18 years). Players will be organized to play 3 half-hour doubles matches with juniors of similar ability. This program presents a great opportunity to practise skills learned during lessons and make new friends to play tennis with at the same time.

This Junior Round Robin will run every Sunday from 5pm – 6:30pm from May 8 until the end of June. The program will continue through the summer if there is enough demand. It is open to all members under 18 years of age who are able to serve, maintain a rally on both forehand and backhand, and execute simple volleys. All players must have a full understanding of the rules of tennis as no instruction will take place during these games.
MWTC Tournaments
Tennis tournaments are open to MWTC members. Men's and women's singles tournaments are usually held in July followed by doubles and mixed doubles tournaments in August and September. Please see the tournament page for details.
Lakeshore League (Starting May 14)
The Lakeshore League is a competitive inter-club league. The teams are selected by tryouts with the Club Pro, in late April/early May. Each year, MWTC has two teams which compete at different levels. Our home games are on Monday nights at 7PM until the matches are finished, usually around 9 to 9:30pm.

Come on out on Monday nights to support your fellow club members as they compete against other clubs!
